Windows XP Internet Not Connecting Automatically

Hey, I need help, everytime my computer turns on or restarts.. my internet says it’s CONNECTED But it’s not! I have to go to it, press properties, and click on it then it connects! How do I fix this? It’s annoying after everytime it shuts down to redo this over and over!
